When I began selling my artwork, people asked me to sign the backs of the canvas, but I refused. It seems irrational, but I simply do not like the look or sound of my own name and resent the fact that I was not consulted on the matter.
Obviously, not in advance, but, you know, when I got to the age of 5 or so and was facing kindergarten, letting me choose the name that I would then present to the world wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world.
Even the name of someone immensely cool and popular, like "Dave Grohl", looks dumb as shit on a tour shirt, which is why he, too, chose a name that is only slightly less awful. At the end of the day, having a cool-looking tour shirt is what it's all about.
It's also the reason more dudes didn't buy Bryan Adams tour shirts during his sold-out 1985 North American tour.
